Called "Family Man" by many, Aston Francis Barrett, CD (22 November 1946 – 3 February 2024) was a Rastafarian and musician from Jamaica. He was most recognized for leading Bob Marley's backup band, co-producing the recordings, and overseeing the song arrangements as a whole.
Barrett received various awards during his lifetime, including the Bass Player Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and #1 among "20 legendary musicians who shaped the sound of electric bass" by the staff of Bass Player Magazine in 2020. 2021 saw his largest recognition yet, when he was incorporated into the Jamaican Order
