Born in Los Angeles on October 19, 1984, Stephen Lee Bruner is an American musician, vocalist, record producer, and composer best known by his stage name Thundercat. Known for his collaborations with producer Flying Lotus and his inclusions on Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly, he first gained recognition as a member of the crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies. Since then, he has released four solo studio albums. Thundercat's performance on the To Pimp a Butterfly song "These Walls" earned him a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Performance in 2016. It Is What It Is, Thundercat's fourth studio album was released in 2020, and it won him a Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album.

Music reviewers praised Drunk in general. Based on 26 reviews, the album received an overall score of 80 on review aggregator Metacritic, denoting "generally favourable reviews." Daniel Sylvester gave Exclaim! a very positive review, complimenting Thundercat's groove and ability to transition seamlessly between songs, tweaking here and there but never losing the beat.
