Jan 21, 2024 |

Ben Sidran is an American jazz and rock keyboardist, producer, label owner, and songwriter who was born on August 14, 1943. He was a member of the Steve Miller Band early in his career. Leo Sidran, a musician, composer, and performer, is nominated for a Grammy.

Raised in Racine, Wisconsin, Sidran joined The Ardells alongside Steve Miller and Boz Scaggs as a student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1961. Sidran stayed behind to complete his English literature degree when Miller and Scaggs moved out of Wisconsin for the West Coast. He enrolled in the University of Sussex in England to pursue a PhD after graduating in 1966. He performed as a session musician for Charlie Watts, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, and Peter Frampton while he was living in England.

"Dylan Different" by Ben Sidran, a smooth jazz album released in 2009 on his label Nardis Records, pays tribute to Bob Dylan with reinterpreted jazz covers. Featuring revised tempos, instruments, and a large backing band while maintaining Dylan's original lyrics, the album was recorded in an Alsatian farmhouse from June 1 to 4, 2009. Sidran aimed to capture the haunted, mysterious quality of Dylan's music. The international ensemble includes musicians such as Rodolphe Burger, Marcello Giuliani, and Alberto Malo.
